HIV/AIDS and Food and Nutrition Security
From Evidence to Action
April 14-16, 2005, Durban, South Africa
Expected outcomes
The ultimate expected outcome of the conference is more effective, large-scale action that addresses the links between HIV/AIDS and food and nutrition insecurity.
The main planned outputs will relate to the achievements of the objectives above, but in concrete terms there will be the following:
- a succinct declaration for future advocacy
- a consensus framework for action
- new and strengthened networks for research and action
- a prioritized research agenda
- a series of papers – academic and action-oriented – from the Call for Abstracts and the proceedings of the conference. This will be brought together as a book and a CD-ROM.
It is also expected that the deliberations and outcomes of this conference will serve as a platform for influencing the forthcoming ICASO conference in Abuja, Nigeria and the International Union of Sciences (IUNS) World Congress in Durban, S Africa, both in September 2005, and the next International AIDS Conference in Toronto in August 2006.
