HIV/AIDS and Food and Nutrition Security
From Evidence to Action
April 14-16, 2005, Durban, South Africa

Scope

The conference will take a thematic approach, not an institutional one -- the structure, format and participation being driven by the key issues to be addressed. It will be held back-to-back with a consultation on nutrition and HIV/AIDS organized by WHO.

HIV/AIDS Determinants, Impacts and Responses

Regarding the figure, the scope of the conference will span the micro to macro-environmental levels. It will not directly focus on the individual-level microbiological dimension which in addition to the micro-environment is the main focus of the preceding WHO consultation. The two meetings are complementary in their scope and it is hoped that stronger links will thus be forged between those working on individual-level nutritional aspects of HIV/AIDS and those focusing at the broader level of household and community level food and nutrition security.
