Organized by the International Food Policy Research Institute and Beaconhouse National University with assistance from Innovative Development Strategies

IFPRI's Board of Trustees has asked IFPRI management to partner with leading institutions in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh to achieve a shared understanding of research and policy priorities in each country and across the region. IFPRI and Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, with support from the Innovative Development Strategies (IDS), hosted a seminar on March 12, 2005, in Lahore, on "The Role of Agriculture in Poverty Reduction in Pakistan". The seminar focused on analyzing causes of and solutions to rising poverty trends, reviewing key agricultural issues, examining prospects for rural industrialization, and evaluating progress in achieving the Millennium Development Goals. The presentations and discussions are compiled in the proceedings volume.
