ABSTRACT

Expansion of agricultural production to meet the needs of a growing population will require increases in irrigated land as well as additional water for food production. Will such water be available?

Dr. Ismail Serageldin--former Chairman of the Global Water Partnership, the World Commission for Water in the 21st Century, and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), as well as former Vice President for Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Development at the World Bank--will offer his speculations on the future of water and food security.
