ABOUT THIS PAPER

The Discussion Paper acts as a "toolkit" supporting researchers doing risk and vulnerability assessments using household data. The paper focuses on quantitative and survey-based techniques and the issues that these applications raise. The paper gives suggestions for data collection techniques and related econometric issues in both household and communty level surveys. Much of this paper is based on the content of an IFPRI/WB Workshop on Risk and Vulnerability: Estimation and Policy Implications, which was held at the International Food Policy Research Institute in September 2002.
