Kwaw Andam joined IFPRI in January 2008 as a Postdoctoral Fellow. His most recent research, evaluating the effectiveness of land use policies and their socioeconomic effects, was awarded the Joseph Fisher Dissertation Fellowship from Resources for the Future in 2007 as well as a Georgia State University Dissertation Grant in 2005. Most recently, he led a research project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to evaluate GEF investments in the forest sector in Costa Rica, using data and methods from his PhD dissertation. His previous work experience includes three internships with the World Bank, where he contributed to monitoring and evaluating projects in the Middle East and North Africa Region. Kwaw has a B.Sc. (first class honors) in civil engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana (2001); an M.S. in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Vermont (2003); an M.A. in economics from Georgia State University (2006); and a Ph.D. in public policy earned jointly from Georgia State University and Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008.
