Madagascar: Collaboration
The project is being carried out jointly by the Food Consumption and Nutrition Division (FCND) and the Markets and Structural Studies Division (MSSD). It is being funded by a grant from the USAID - United States Agency for International Development and is being implemented in collaboration with the Centre National de Recherches Appliquees au Developpement Rural (CENRADERU - FOFIFA) and researchers from Stanford University.A planning workshop was organized in December 1996 in Antananarivo. Besides researchers from IFPRI and FOFIFA, the participants included representatives from key ministries, other policy making institutions, and the statistical office. A post-doctoral fellow has been outposted to Madagascar to work with local scientists, supervise the field data collection, and prepare outreach activities towards Malagasy policy makers.
