Meetings, Seminars, and Conferences

The UN Fourth World Conference on Women: Action for Equality, Development, and Peace will be held September 4-15, 1995, in Beijing, China, at the Beijing International Conference Center. At this conference, governments will decide upon a Platform for Action, a document that will contain strategies and programs for advancing the status of women. A parallel nongovernmental gathering open to all interested parties, the Nongovernmental Organizations (NGO) Forum '95, will be held at the Beijing Workers' Sports Service Center, August 30 through September 8, 1995.

The School of Development Studies, University of East Anglia, Norwich, NR4 7TJ, UK, is offering two courses: "Gender Training for Development," 17 July - 25 August 1995, and "Training Skills in Gender," 29 August - 7 September 1995. The first is designed for those involved in designing or implementing gender programs, and the second is designed for those involved in training. The Annual World Bank Conference on Development Economics will be held in Washington, D.C., on May 1 and 2, 1995. Four major themes will be discussed at the conference: (1) revisiting redistribution with growth; (2) demographic change and development; (3) aid and development; and (4) fiscal decentralization.
