The Small Ruminant Collaborative Research Support Program at the University of Missouri has devel-oped a set of papers on gender and livestock in Bolivia, Peru, Kenya, and Indonesia and is exploring possibilities of publishing them in book form. The papers present a wide variety of research themes that focus on the Pro-gram's on-farm research activities on the role of small ruminants in peasant economies and communities with different degrees of market integration, with gender as one of the research variables. Coady International Institute, St Francis Xavier Uni-versity, Canada, has a resource directory on gender and sustainable rural development. This directory contains annotated entries on gender and sustainable rural development resources produced in Third World countries. The directory, which continues to grow and will soon be published, is available at http://www.stfx.ca (follow the links to "Institutes and Special Projects" then "Coady Institute" and "Library").

Kovalevskaia Fund Newsletter. Published by The Kovalevskaia Fund, a small foundation that aims to encourage women in science and technology in developing countries through appropriate forms of support. The Fund hopes to increase the contact and cooperation between women in science in different countries, and also to stimulate the scholarly study of connections between the status of women and scientific-technological development. The Fund is named after the Russian mathematician, socialist, and feminist Sofia V. Kovalevskaia (1850-1891).
