Volume 5, Number 2 Special Issue of Gendev NewsIFPRI's Gender and Development Policy Brown Bag Seminar Series has been successful in building a network of Washington-based policymakers, NGO, representatives, and members of the development research community. Each month, various members of this group have presented emerging research results on gender and intrahousehold resource allocation. We are releasing this special issue of Gendev News to provide a hard copy summary of these seminars and emphasize questions raised. This special issue focuses on five presentations highlighting gender differences related to household structure, food distribution and micronutrient status, property rights, labor allocation, and status, education and nutrition. Summaries of these seminars have been placed on the Gendev listserve e-mail network to provide a forum for ongoing discussion related to these topics by interested parties within and outside Washington, D.C. This hard copy newsletter is to extend that discussion to those outside the email listserve itself. We encourage members of Gendev, in all its forms, to continue the dialog related to the presentations and look forward to the final seminars as we approach the end of the year. |
