Volume 5, Number 2 New PublicationsThe International Information Centre and Archives for the Women's Movement (IIAV) and the Royal Tropical Institute, both in the Netherlands, have published Women's Information Services and Networks: A Global Source Book. The book provides a guide to women's information services and networks and what they do, and explores the role that information and communication technologies can play in linking national, regional, and international networks to create a truly global platform for disseminating and sharing information about women and gender relations. The preface to the book is by Federico Mayor, director general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). For more information or how to order the book, visit www.kit.nl/ibd/html/gender_society_and_ development.htm. The IIAV website is at www.iiav.nl. World Neighbors is offering free copies of Integration of Population and Environment II: Ecuador Case Study. This 30-page booklet, part of World Neighbors' Lessons from the Field series and published by the University of Michigan's Population-Environment Fellows Program, presents the findings of a three-year project carried out in partnership with the Ecuadorian family planning organization CEMOPLAF. The study compares an integrated development project (that combines reproductive health efforts with agricultural and natural resource management programming) with a health-only project. The study also examines the effects of the CEMOPLAF clinic on participants’ perceptions and rates of adoption of sustainable agricultural methods. For copies of the study or information about other World Neighbors publications, please e-mail Catheryn Koss at catheryn@wn.org. |
