Goals of SAKSS
- To serve as an international public good
- To gain a better understanding of how partner-wide investments and policy reforms are contributing to the MDGs and rural welfare
- To contribute to improved national/regional planning, M&E, and policy environment
- To encourage greater donor and government coordination and transparency
- To strengthen national and regional capacity for planning and M&E, and thus, greater leverage to influence dialogue for setting priorities
Components of SAKSS
- Compiling data (esp. spatially oriented) at all levels to assess trends, characterize constraints and opportunities
- Developing and compiling appropriate frameworks and analytical tools relevant to strategy planning needs
- Compilation of accumulated knowledge and best practices to inform the design and implementation of dev strategies
- Developing M&E frameworks that can assess and add up impact across multiple efforts with shared goals
- Institutionalization of all the above in national and regional institutions
